The Castlegar Camogie Club still exists, and was driven by forward-thinking people who may not get the credit that they deserve.
The Broderick's - Michael Broderick and Ann Broderick gave more hours to this end. Relentless; not just the physical hours on the ground, but the countless hours of preparation, formulation of strategies straight through to the final result.
Ted Dolly lent a hand for a few years also.
Today, the Club is mainly driven by Mary Cawley and her husband, Michael Connolly, Brendan Flynn and other volunteers. Paul Mahoney helps to forge his and other proteges. Some excellent photos are at the Hurling Club site.
The Camogie (phonetically spelt, Camógie {Kam-o-gee}) Club, provided a platform whereby the Women could discuss and excercise the mechanics of hurling amongst themselves and with their male counterparts. The level of competition was real.
Some of these Women share a common bond, and still share an international network.
