We have a number of Lakes in Castlegar, County Galway.
- Ballindooley Lake
- Coolough to the North of the Parish has a few smaller ones.
A few Turloughs are about also; namely Killtulla, Menlo and Pollkeen.
The three Lakes at Coolough, are a fine example of under - promotion. They're within three miles of a Medieval City, contain both Pike and Perch, and are normally accessible by a Lake Boat. The scenery equals anywhere else: a Fisherman wants Fish, limited fuss and maybe a Pint to articulate his or her experience.
To date, the local Hotels, etc., tend to nudge a visitor up towards the Lake of the Corrib; an expanse of water.
Perhaps not all want the succulent Salmon and Trout, but the Pike and the Perch from the Lakes in Coolough.
