Geology

Castlegar is mainly limestone and has a number of Quarries - some old and abandoned, while others are still open for business.

There is a good area of bogs, mainly around Ballindooley and the lower-lying regions of Sylaun.

Geography and Geocoding.

The Elevation of various Castlegar locations will be listed to help determine height, relative to each other and sea level ( approx., and relevant given the recent floods). Techniques for geocoding using multiple applications will be shown, and a pattern may develop which can be replicated easily enough. Various sites are cross-referenced for metrics, and discrepancies can be fixed with time. Bringing something close to a good picture, may take another year at least. galway seo
